about

I wrote "Dawn" on a day when when I felt the light break though my inner gloom. Rather than let the darkness envelop me, I felt my way through to the rising dawn by "letting go of that something I should be."

When I listened closely to the creeping shadows, I realized they were laughing, telling me to wake my heart divine.
"Lonely days of winter come and gone
Light beneath the fingers of the dawn..."

"Dawn" is about light shinning through darkness.

lyrics

Lonely days of winter come and gone
Light beneath the fingers of the dawn

Letting go of that something I should be
Paper crowns, the echo of my cry
Mirrors that speak of lost ways
Call out my love for you

Lonely days of winter come and gone
Light beneath the fingers of the dawn

Upside down and all around I see
Two are one and always meant to be
Corners of shadow laugh out
Come wake your heart divine

Lonely days of winter come and gone
Light beneath the fingers of the dawn

about

Ingrid Serban San Francisco, California

Somewhere in a Transylvanian village, a 4-year old little girl stands on a dirt mound and sings.

Two years later, in a dark room with narrow windows overlooking a dirt courtyard, she sings for the music school entrance exam.

A few weeks later, 500kg of bronze and wood take up residence her room. The piano smells of old things and neglect.
A new life begins
for the little girl and her piano.
